DERANGED, DESTRUCTIVE, DECEITFUL, DELUSIONAL, DANGEROUS (CONTINUED)

To pick up from yesterday’s blog, I have to quote Ron Chernow, historian and author/Alexander Hamilton biographer who spoke at the White House Correspondence Association dinner on Saturday night. He said, “Politicians and diapers have to be changed often, and for the same reason.”

That pretty much sums up Trump and his fecal-filled administration; they not only stink but are destructive, deceitful, and DANGEROUS.

For the third year in a row, Trump and his administration’s officials and aides, snubbed the dinner, which celebrates the First Amendment. Instead Trump held a rally in Wisconsin. There he ranted and raved against correspondents and journalists with his “fake news” and “enemy of the people” mantras; he pointed to reporters at the rally and called them “fakers.” His audience cheered him on.

These trumpsters are Americans?? I don’t think so. They are people blindly following a demagogue, a wannabe dictator who at his Saturday rally belittled the investigation headed by special counsel Robert Mueller and, as he often does, mocked Democrats Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren who are candidates for the presidency. At the same time, he boasted about members of the media at his rally. Yet, he calls such reporters “fakers”! With his deceit and destructive comments, he tries to have his cake and eat it too.

These diatribes against the press/media are endangering democracy. Without authentic news about what the executive branch is doing, we have few ways to find out who is corrupt, who is committing crimes, who is threatening to take away our freedoms. In former V.P. Joe Biden’s words as he announced his candidacy for president, the country is “in the battle for the soul of this nation.”

To quote Chernow again, he noted in his speech Saturday night that “when you chip away at the press, you chip away at our democracy.” In his conclusion, he praised the “grand crusading tradition” of vigorous journalism — from Ida B. Wells to Ida Tarbell to Upton Sinclair to Woodward and Bernstein, the Washington Post reported. Chernow told the crowd: “This is a glorious tradition; you folks are part of it, and we can’t have politicians trampling on it with impunity.”
